--- How To Start a Step-Up Edger Project ---
--- It is as Eazy as A, B, C to do ---
Three easy steps are all that are needed prior to buying the Step-Up stones you will need for your lawn border project.
(An example is given in the Step-Up brochure to show how easy using Step-Up edger stones can be.)
Outside Step A ---
Layout where your Step-Up edger border will be installed. You may use a garden hose, a rope or paint the ground to outline your border. Record the total length, in inches, of this border in the A blank of the Work Table on the inside bottom of the Step-Up brochure.
Inside Step B ---
Sketch your border on paper. This does not have to be to scale. The sketch needs to show the inside and the outside curves of your border. On your sketch record the curves as 3/4, 1/2 or 1/4 curves noting whether each is an inside or outside curve. Using the Help Table, on the inside right of the Step-Up brochure, write on your sketch the number of the curve stones needed for each of the curves in your border. (See example.) Add all of the outside curve stones needed and write this number in the designated blank of step B of the Work Table. Then add all of the inside curve stones and write this number in the designated blank of step B of the Work Table. You are nearly done.
Inside Step C ---
Calculate the number of each of the three Step-Up stones your border will need. Follow the Work Table instructions to finish. You will calculate the length of all outside units and all inside units and subtract these two number from the total length of your border, which you recorded during Step A. the result is the length of straight units. Divide the length of straight units by 7 inches, and record the number of straight units in the designated blank of the Work Table.
DONE! the three numbers circled in red on the work table give you the number of 1. Outside Curve pieces, 2. Inside Curve pieces and 3. Straight pieces that your border will require.
We suggest buying a few extra of each piece should your border design change while being installed. Unused pieces are normally returned for credit.
Finally, The total number of units of Step-Up edger units can be verified by multiplying the length of your border, in feet, times 1.7. the result should be about the same as the total number of Step-Up units in your Work Table.
